Whats the best way to revise for a two hour essay based exam?
If you know the question, then pre-write your essay and memorise it. If you will have several unknown questions on a subject, you need to organise. Use flashcards or better, mind maps. Write down all the salient information you know about the subject without looking at books. As you write, jot the information in bullet points and organise it into rough headings. You are really brainstorming the subject at this point. When you can’t think of any more stuff, re-write your “map” neatly and then hit the books to see if you have missed anything important. You should have a map of bullet points, not big paragraphs. Once you’re happy re-write on big paper (eg buy cheap lining paper from B&Q) using colour felt-tips. Stick it up on your wall and read it every day, until you have memorised your map.
