Whats the best way to move across the country?
Just want to add to what the other answerers have already said. If you go with professional movers, you’d be suprised at how many things (particularly heavy things) cost more to move than they’re worth. Having moved many times, I finally got it figured out that what it cost to move my 10-year-old ratty couch was far more than the thing was worth – it was cheaper to drop kick it into the dumpster and buy a new one once I moved to my new place than to pay to have the old piece of junk moved. (of course, if you’re sentimentally attached to that olive green couch with the lining coming out, that’s a different story…) Do your financial homework – it may save you a lot of money, and you could wind up money ahead and with new furniture at the same time!! Plus – here’s another idea. When we moved we had a friend offer to drive the fully-loaded rental truck out for us if we would pay his hotels and meals.
