Whats the best way to memorize songs?
Well, I’m in my fourth year of marching band and I’ve had to memorize music every year. The best way I think to do it is to take it one song at a time and a little part of that song at a time. Memorizing music takes quite a bit of time, I’m sorry if you’re looking for a fast way to do it because there really is no such thing. But what I’ve seen work is to break it down, play a little part over and over until you can do it without music and expand until you can play the entire song without looking at your music. If all else fails, I’d ask an older student to help you. If you have a section leader, ask them, I’m one in my school and they’re there to help. I know you said you didn’t want to hear this, but practicing is really the only way to memorize music, it really is.
