Whats the best way to lower triglyceride levels?
To lower triglycerides: Reduce dietary fat intake, especially saturated fat (from butter, cheese, red meat, coconut oil and palm oil); exercise – any form of cardiovascular exercise can help (jogging, brisk walking, swimming, cycling); don’t go TOO low on your monounsaturated fat intake because a very low-fat diet (high in carbs) can actually raise triglyceride levels (it’s called carbohydrate-induced high-triglycerides); if you’re eating a VERY low-fat diet, add a handful of almonds, walnuts or pecans to your diet every day or so; if you’re overweight, lose weight; cut back on high-cholesterol foods (shellfish and eggs).
