Whats the best way to give up smoking?
I quit cold turkey 9 years ago. And it worked. I never started smoking again and I don’t intend to do so. But it’s important to know that I REALLY wanted to quit. I think that that’s the most important factor: to be very sure that you want to quit! Every time you feel the need of a cigarette, drink a glass of water. The need will go away. I also chew more gum now than I did before. Some people say it’s not good for the stomach, but it’s not as bad as the cigarettes were for my body. So, my advice to give up smoking: just do it whenever you feel you are 100% ready.
My grandfather found that the best way was to find out that he had lung cancer. But if you don’t want to find out that way, take it one step at a time. Try chewing gum when you get the urge, or find some way to occupy the time it would take you to smoke that cigarette.I’ve lived through losing someone to double lung cancer, and it is the worst thing to watch someone die from, so good luck and keep at it! DON’T GO COLD TURKEY!!
