Whats the best way to get rid of a clothes moth infestation?
Moth balls (Naphthalene) will work fine – but you don’t really want to go out smelling like an old theatre wardrobe department. Best plan is to totally empty your wardrobe, give it a good vacuum cleaning, then spray it around with a fly spray (works on moths as well as flies) Wash, or have dry cleaned everything in the wardrobe, before replacing them. Moths only go for natural fibres, especially wool, and as previous answerers have said it is the larvae that to the damage, so you need to eradicate not just the adults, but the larvae and pupae (they will appear as small fawn cigar shaped structures, probably stuck to the walls of your wardrobe. Putting some strongly scented bars of soap in the bottom of your wardrobe (preferably lavender or other herby scents) will deter them from returning.
