What’s the best way to find a good financial advisor?
Most people ask coworkers or relatives. This is a start, but this approach doesn’t necessarily help you find the best, most knowledgeable candidates for your situation. You need to do some research yourself. For starters, check the adviser’s Form ADV, which discloses whether they accept commissions or “soft dollars” from financial institutions and whether they have had any past disciplinary actions, from the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).
