Whats the best way to de-ice a car?
I’ve broken 2 ice scrapers in the last 2 days here in MN. It is too cold to throw any kind of water anywhere, especially on glass of any sort! The liquid Deicer formula for autos works well, but if the temperature is this frigid, it is necessary to warm your car up a few minutes as well. Even with the spray, a scraper is needed too. The heater must be set to blow above the dash and a rear defogger unit helps too. When all else fails, get a taxi to the airport and fly away to Hawaii or other such paradise. The last part works for my father. I just stay here and dream! The de-ice sprays, whether aerosol or pump spray, are safe for paint jobs on vehicles, scrapers made of plastic, (lexan, acrylic, etc.) are safe for vehicle glass, and trim if accidentally bumped or scraped. Metal scrapers pose more of a threat, but normal caution should be used with anything used to scrape. There is a metal scraper sold which is corded, plugs into the cig lighter, and actually warms. I’ve never tried one,
