What’s the best way to clean a patio made from concrete pavers?
Your concrete pavers will keep their color and hold up to wear and tear better if you have them sealed once a year. Between sealings: • Sweep or blow dirt and dust from the patio as needed. Avoid spraying the patio with water, as concrete can develop a white film—called “efflorescence”—when they get wet and then dry out very quickly. • Wipe up spills as soon as they happen. If your patio is sealed, you can clean up most spills with a wet sponge. Vinegar works on oil-based stains. Re-seal the spot you wiped if the acid in the vinegar ruins the finish. On unfinished pavers, paint remover will take up stains. • Keep corrosive materials like battery acid, brake and transmission fluid and motor oil far away from your concrete patio. These fluids can penetrate the seal and leave a dark stain.
