Whats the best way to catch up on bills after missing work due to an accident?
Something similar to that happened to me a couple of years ago, and this is what I did: I used a spiral notebook. On the first page, I made a list of all my creditors, their phone numbers, my account numbers, the total owed. I then used the next pages, one page for each creditor. I started making notes on the pages. Call each creditor and tell them precisely your situation. Write the date and time on the page, as well as the person you talked to, their extension, etc. Tell them what happened to you and that you know you are behind and want to catch up as soon as possible. Ask them if they have any sort of program to help someone in your situation. You might be pleasantly surprised to hear the response. Some of them don’t care, but most of them were very understanding when I called. One creditor actually gave me a 6-month program where they stopped charging most of the interest and let me make small payments until I got caught up.
