Try running the mile and then walking for a bit. Then resume running for as long as you can. Continue this walk run routine until you are able to do all three miles running. The other way is to add a little distance to a run each week. Over the course of time you will build up to the three miles. There are no sort cuts to gaining endurance. Make sure that you have enough good carbs in your diet to support this activity. If your eating program doesn’t have enough good carbs then there will not be the energy supply necessary to do any endurance activity. Of you run alone try running with someone that goes at your pace but can run longer. If the two of you just get out there and run you will be surprised how far you can run. Running solo unless you are used to it can be boring and then all you think about is the end of the run. This might be the best overall way to increase the endurance you want.
