Whats the best university in Europe for studying particle physics?
I can only speak for the UK, but in the UK Swansea, Birmingham and Lancaster are the only universities that do particle physics that I know of. Of the three of these, Lancaster has by far the best physics department. This is not only my opinion but ‘The Times’ university guide lists Lancaster in the top 20 overall universities and as number 4 with respect to the physics department. Also most of the physics department helped work on and continue to conduct experiments with the LHC. It is a research university where the lecturers are writing the text books. They are discovering the new physics that is continually being taught to the students! If I were you I’d definitely look into it! Good Luck with whatever you decide to do and where ever you decide to go. P.S. If you want any more help or info e-mail me!
