Whats the best time to feed?
Cats are more active at night and in the early morning than during the afternoon hours. Many believe that for this reason it is best to feed at night or in the evening. I keep fresh water available 24 hours a day and fill the feeding stations in the early morning just at or before sunrise then again in the evening about an hour before sunset. Often birds will eat all the left overs after sun up – raccoons and possums will likely eat a good bit after dark as well. I’ve used a game camera to monitor activity at the feeding stations – this seems to be the best schedule for my colonies as more cats get to eat before the wilder animals move in after dark – and the late (early) comers still get to eat in the morning.
