Whats the best thing about being a Yeoman Warder?
Waking up each morning and feeling very privileged to be able to live and work in such a magnificent place and of course the laughs that inevitably come every day. When I say goodbye to visitors leaving the Tower and ask if they enjoyed the visit they turn round and say ‘It was wonderful!’ or ‘Fabulous!’ and to see the look on their faces just makes for a good day. Moira Cameron was announced as the first female Yeoman Warder at the Tower of London amid huge international media interest in January 2007. She joined the Body of Yeoman Warders at the Tower in summer 2007, taking on the title of Yeoman Warder Cameron, and started work proper in uniform at the Tower on 3 September 2007 again in the glare of the media.
