Whats the best software to use to edit home videos on Windows?
I don’t know if it’s “the best” but it’s definitely easy to use and offers more than just the basics. It’s Windows Movie Maker which comes with Windows XP. Allows you to import clips, including importing footage from a camcorder etc. There’s a wide variety of output options in terms of quality, and actually editing and mixing your video is easy. Dozens of transitions, fades, brightness filters, effects, volume adjustments etc. and you can add in music of your own as well. I use it all the time to edit my digital camera movie clips as well as ones I take with my Sony Handycam. P.S. – The latest update (2.1) offers DVD burning capabilities – http://www.microsoft.
