I think the best sew machine is one that you can have service and repair access. There are some really good brands–I own 2 bernina machines. I think it is a waste to buy a machine that does a bunch of stuff you don’t need. I recommend the Bernina 220 for all sewing levels. Consider a used machine from your local Bernina dealer. Ebay also has many used, good machines. A high quality machine is your best bet because it will last a lifetime and wont give you tension trouble. Best of luck!
