At the moment, I would say XP. It works, just about anything is compatible with it and it’s fast. It was when XP was released that all the older versions seemed ancient – it made the leap from working, to working really well. And XP can be installed, and run, on just about any PC (I have seen it run on a PC running on 256MB RAM). Vista has just been a bit of a bad egg and is going to be superseded by Windows 7 soon anyway. So I’m not going to be rushing out to buy Vista. The early reports on Windows 7 seem to say that it’s Vista, but better. It is also faster and has a slightly improved GUI. So we’ll have to wait and see.
