Whats the best live music venue in Austin?
I’ve been going to the Saxon Pub a lot. It’s got a great variety of music. Bob Schneider, Joseph King, and Guy Forsyth play there regularly. And don’t be surprised to see Willie Nelson pop in and join his daughter play. On a side note, my band is playing there on Saturday. For the best in original music, I’ll suggest Momo’s. It’s upstairs from Katz’ Deli. It has an intimate stage, large bar, and a large open rooftop deck. It’s the sister bar of the Saxon. I’m a big fan of The Hudsons who play there a lot. I’m also fan of Maggie Maes… It’s a large venue on 6th St. The lower area a courtyard, a large stage, and two bars. Upstairs is a roof top stage and lots of room for fun. Lots of different bands play here from rock to r&b to covers to jam bands… It’s one of the lesser pretentious places consider how big music snobbery is here in Austin.
