Here is my opinion on what would be “Best” for Windows Home Server, in decreasing power and price. #1. Build your own. Make it how you want. Recommend 1GB Ram minumum for all WHS systems. #2. NetMagix Good hardware, 4 drive bays. #3. Norco DS-520 Decent hardware, boasts 8 drive bays for adding more storage. Dead last – HP Mediasmart. Bare minumum hardware, 4 drive bays, warranty void if modified, including adding memory. does come with some custom software.
