That’s actually kind of a tough question! You may right away think of a small dog as being best, but that’s not always the case. A lot of the small/toy breeds are very active and vocal – some are notoriously difficult to housebreak too. Some large breeds make great apartment dogs, as they’re often a lot lower-energy than you would expect. Obviously they physically take up more room though! What’s more important than the size is the type of dog you choose. Every purebreed dog today was designed with a purpose and a role to fill, for example a working or herding breed is happiest with a job to do. A lot will also depend on your lifestyle. If you’re an active person who is outside a lot at weekends etc. , if you like to jog, cycle or whatever, then a moderately active breed would work well. As long as they’re stimulated and receive enough exercise an apartment would be fine. If you like to stay home and watch the ballgame or read/work at your desk, you need to look for a lower energy bree
