Hi there, Josh :] Lemme start off by saying, I am an atheist and The Stand is one of my favorite books. It definitely has the “good VS evil” theme [as many Stephen King books do], but Stephen actually has a few quotes in the book about his dislike of religion and an unbelief in god. There are people in the book who are religious [there are also atheists… and people who just generally don’t care], so god/religion/prayer is talked about, but not in a “preachy” sort of way. It is about a big sickness [the Super Flu is one of the names they have for it in the book] that hits the whole world. It leaves some people alive, as they are naturally immune to it [you’ll learn more about that if you read it]… these people end up in two groups. One group wants to rebuild, fix things, start a government, etc. Another group pretty much wants anarchy and is headed by a man [Randall is his name] who wants total power and control. The book is pretty much just about the people in these two groups and
