Whats so special about faux painting?
A. Faux (Fo) is French for “false” and there’s nothing so special about is except the cachet that decorators tend to give it. Usually, faux painting is designed to give the appearance of something other than what a thing is, like aging, glazing, and plastering. It’s more time consuming and skill-intensive that regular painting. Faux walls can range from a two color scumble to a finish that involves 8 or more distinct layers of various colors/textures. The more that goes on, the more it costs. It’s not sponge painting, anymore.
