Whats so great about Guys and Dolls as a musical? What keeps it so popular?
Samantha: It’s a great musical on many levels, there are many nuances. There are darker tones which some people pick up on while others just see it as a song and dance musical where the girls get the guys – but really there’s a lot more going on. With the Nathan and Adelaide story, there’s a lot about being let down and aspiring to greater things but never getting there and there’s also all the gambling and strip club elements. It’s a play set to music rather than a song and dance musical but people get different things out of it. Some are taken by the Sarah and Sky story and others by Nathan and Adelaide so you take different things from it.
