What’s so good about achieving NHS Foundation status?
Foundation Trusts have greater freedom to manage their own affairs and can tailor services to best meet the needs of local people. Decisions are taken locally which means that they are more responsive to the needs of our patients. For example, if a new piece of equipment or capital investment will develop the service provided to patients, then as a NHS Foundation Trust we can borrow money for this as long as we can afford to pay back the loan. We would not need to refer to a central hierarchy for approval to do so.
