Whats proper job interview attire for a college student, for an interview on campus?
The general rule is one step up from what employees wear on a daily basis. Since it’s on campus, if possible, swing by and see what people in that department are wearing. If they’re in jeans and t-shirts, show up in slacks and a polo or button-down shirt. If they’re in slacks and buttoned shirts, wear a suit jacket. (If you wear a suit or suit jacket, you keep your jacket ON during the interview. If it’s unbearably hot, a comment like “I hope you’ll excuse me if I remove my jacket; it’s quite warm for me” would be appropriate. Even if the interviewer takes theirs off, you should try to keep yours on). Never, ever wear anything revealing, political, or too flashy. Ask yourself “would I wear to this to the club with my friends?” If the answer is “yes” or even “maybe” it’s the wrong garment! I think that you want to show that you respect the position, without showing up too overdressed. While overdressed is better than underdressed, you don’t want to break the bank on some fancy outfit on
