In January, 1999, VERITAS and Oracle announced a cooperative development agreement to enhance storage management for Oracle database. The two companies plan to create an Oracle Disk Manager (ODM) API to enhance disk management and integrate the VERITAS Database Edition with the next major revision of Oracle 8. ODM interface allows Oracle direct access to manage storage including full comprehension of disk architectures, I/O operations, and system management of disk space.
