Whats normal for the month of July?
• Average precipitation at the Headworks facility in Bull Run is about an inch. (The median is .85″. The mean is 1.31″. ) • About a third of the time since 1899, we have less than an inch in July. • Since 1899, 8 times it has never rained at all in July. The most recent time was 1984. • The other summer months also tend to be dry, but not as dry as July. Four times we have had no rain in August at Headworks. Once we had a September with no rain. • We’ve never had a year where it didn’t rain in both July and August in the same year. The minimum combination for the two months occurred in 1967 — we had 0.03″ inches of rain … very close to zero.
