Whats next for the stars of Slumdog Millionaire?
Every “Slumdog”has its day. But this Oscar darling looks to be lucky for many days to come. It has already brought good fortune and career boosts for the previously low-profile stars of the sleeper hit. Dev Patel, who was so winning as Jamal, the lovestruck young man from the slums, will let his nasty side show (and maybe his martial arts skills) in his next big-screen project. The 18-year-old British actor has been cast as angry Prince Zuko in “The Last Airbender.”M. Night Shyamalan (“The Sixth Sense”) will direct the film based on the popular Nickelodeon kids’ program. Freida Pinto, who starred as Latika, the love of of Jamal’s life, won’t be sitting around waiting for jobs or practicing Bollywood dance moves. The 24-year-old from Mumbai starts work in London in July alongside A-listers Josh Brolin, Naomi Watts and Anthony Hopkins in the new film by Woody Allen.
