The Gaels have the week off but face one of the toughest non-conference WCC schedules around. SMC travels to Tucson to play loaded Pac-10 squad Arizona Saturday, December 10th. The Wildcats currently are below .500 after suffering a disappointing loss at Houston but they’ll be back and ready, especially at the McKale Center. The Wildcats were the highest-ranked team to lose to Houston since the Cougars upset third-ranked Memphis 69-67 in 1996. Other St. Mary’s News: Former Arizona State top recruiting and current JC shooting guard Tron Smith continues to lead California junior colleges in scoring. Smith, who signed a Letter-of-Intent with Saint Mary’s, will give the Gaels a bona-fide backcourt scoring option once again. Saint Mary’s will also return shooting guard Jason Wahlberg next year, a senior who has to redshirt this season due to injuries.
