Land filling has been the primary solid waste disposal method for over hundreds of years and it is likely that landfills will continue to be the most feasible method of disposal well into the future. Despite concentrated efforts to recycle and reduce waste disposed of in the landfills over the past 30 years, the per capita disposal rate in Georgia has continued to rise.
