The Stamp Zone and two audio-visual programs By WFSC VP Youth Division, MaryAnn Bowman National Stamp Collecting Month brought several new youth-oriented promotional items to my attention. Club leaders and promoters of youth philately are always looking for new programs and ideas. These new resources will add a new dimension to your youth program. PBS TV program The popular children’s television program, “Reading Rainbow,” will feature stamp collecting on one of the ten new programs taped for the fall season. Each 30-minute program is highlighted by the reading of a children’s book followed by several segments related to the book. The book chosen for the “U.S. Mail” feature is HAIL TO MAIL. Samuel Marshak, a Russian, originally wrote the book in 1927. The story has been translated by Richard Pevear and illustrated by Vladimir Rudunsky.
