The car audio head units have come a long way. Gone are the days of old radio receivers which just plainly receive radio signals via AM or FM radio stations. The old models where quite basic and practical even having the capability to play cassette tapes at that time were quite amazing and most cars at that time would have a long antennas rising on the sides. Sadly, until now we frequently still see some cars running with these installed. You might even see tuners which need to be turned and scrolled until you get to just the spot for each radio station until you get to hear the radio play without the scratching noise.
