The $5 million Ripley’s Penguin Playhouse opened at Ripley’s Aquarium of the Smokies in March 2010 and features an indoor-outdoor natural habitat for the African penguins. The famous Weeki Wachee Mermaids performed at both aquariums during 2010 – in Myrtle Beach, July 23-25; in Gatlinburg, Aug. 6-9.
