Whats Most Recrent Land Mine Development Known To You?
In the 1980s, the U.S. was looking into replacing landmines with a machine gun fitted with sensors. Anything in the area would be shot rather than blown up. One would have a lot more control, depending on the sensors, than regular land mines and such a set up would be easier to set up and clean up than a minefield. One could be set up to cover a small valley for instance and several could be set up on the boarder between Afghanistan and Pakistan. A hundred of these could do the job of hundreds of thousands of land mines. They have been looking at making mines more disposable including putting timers in them or being able to set them off by remote control. There are plenty of new anti-landmine systems popping up. They include vehicals that clear landmines, using bees and rats (both can smell the explosives even if the land mine was pure plastic) to find land mines and using specially made explosives to blow up mine fields.
