The public. Make sure schools in your district plan to participate in the fifth annual Back to School Week, April 26-30, by welcoming the public into your schools to see the wonderful learning that is taking place, despite the tremendous challenges. Participation is more important than ever. Bringing people into the school does more than anything else to tell the story of the impact of budget shortfalls. Last year, civic club members said their visit brought home to them how inadequate funding has shortchanged our students. At the same time they reported being impressed by what they saw in the classrooms. Just think if we could multiply that response around the state. What can you do?
