It was PhotoGuide Japan’s 3rd annual international photographers’ gathering held on November 13-18, 2001 in Kyoto, Japan. It consisted of a six-day photo exhibition and a slide show. A total of ten Japanese and non-Japanese photographers were selected by PhotoGuide Japan to show their work at the exhibition and/or the slide show. Most of them are based in or originally from Kyoto, Osaka, and Shiga. KIPS 2001 was a non-profit, voluntary activity, and the participating photographers paid for their own prints, frames, shipping, transportation, etc. They exhibited a total of 78 pictures on more than 62 meters (203 ft) of wall space.
