Whats it like to go home and watch yourself on SportsCenter?
DM: It’s pretty neat. For a long time, I was always the guy in the highlights that the pitcher was striking out, so it felt good to get on there for positive things. After awhile, it’s more fun for your family and friends than it is for you personally. BW: What did it mean to win a Gold Glove last season? DM: It meant a lot for me and a lot for the Twins in general. (Kent) Hrbek was one of the best first basemen of his time and he didn’t get rewarded. So for Torii Hunter and I to both win Gold Gloves last year was something special. It put us on the map a little bit and there are a couple of other guys in here that deserve it. I think people are watching the Twins a little more. BW: You hit the ball better last year. They say that can go a long way toward gaining Gold Glove recognition. DM: I think I made two more errors last year than I did in ’99, but I hit about 70 points higher. So, I think that helped too. At the plate I felt comfortable.
