Whats it like in prison?
Prison is a nightmare. You’ll be stripped naked, told when to eat, sleep, ****, shower, shave, and everything else you do freely now. You’ll encounter the worst of society who will try to take advantage of you any way they can. You’ll have to fight to make it clear that you are not a victim and will then go to solitary for at least a couple weeks for the fight. There you’ll see what separates the men from the boys. You’ll hear screaming and crying all night long from people in cells in the same tier who you won’t be able to see. You’ll be in a room by yourself for days at a time. You’ll maybe get an hour out of the cell a day to shower and walk around a cage that they call recreation. You’ll have to adjust to eating garbage the prison call food. Things I wouldn’t even feed my dogs in the free world. They bring your three meals a day and feed them to you through a slot in the metal door. You’ll have to be mentally strong to not go crazy. Prison, the people that will know the most about prison life are the ones that have been in previously. But I would say personally keep you head down and stay out of trouble and you should be ok. Its all about taking your freedom away. As you’re most probably on bail you’ll enter the system as a convicted person not remand, you’ll most probably be able to do educational courses inside, more time out of cell will all depend on the prison and the regime, also you’ll probably start on basic level and you will have to work your way up to standard and enhanced level this means that you will get more incentives and privileges. You will have a prison account, your family can put money into it and from that you will be allowed to purchase extra snacks, deodrants, stamps, envelopes, phone credit etc alternatively the prison will put £2 in your prison account every week.
