Whats it like combining teaching and acting careers?
Because I can balance the two, I don’t get burned out on either one. The saying about teaching is, “If you want to teach something, you have to clarify it in your mind.” There are a lot of great doers of things who can’t teach. Being a teacher has helped me clarify things as an actor, and being an actor has helped me become a better teacher. Who are the teachers who have inspired you? I’ve worked with Richard Seyd for two years. He’s been my primary teacher. He’s great. He’s been my mentor and inspiration. He’s a brilliant teacher, and as a teacher myself, I don’t give that praise lightly. He teaches in a way I’ve never seen anybody else teach. What does he do? He seems to have the gift of being able to see inside of people. It’s almost like a key. He’ll turn the key a notch and you see people blossom and open up.
