Whats it like being a starlet in the B-movie industry?
It is more like summer camp than being “A Star”. The B-Movie industry is more of a team effort than the major films. The “Star” does not usually get a fancy trailer, special order meals and Perrier water on demand. For one of my first starring roles I helped carry equipment up a cliff in Death Valley! So, no one was afraid that their star would get hurt? I don’t think they were worried, they just wanted to get the shots done. What’s the best part of making these movies? Actually being part of that team that carries equipment when needed! I enjoy participating in the whole process rather than sitting around bored out of my mind for days on end waiting for my 20 minutes in front of the camera. What’s the downside? It is mostly non-union which means low pay, long hours (although long hours are standard in the big films as well…at least you get paid well for your time…), no residuals, no pension, no health insurance and no major theater release parties. What kind of films do you like?
