Whats it been like working with Sidi Larbi – is it something very different for you?
I love the richness that Larbi brings into his work. Whether it be his ideas and sensitivities, or all the different worlds which he has touched throughout his working life. Working with him is being in contact with all of that, and it’s extremely stimulating. I love his curiosity and openness. I also like his approach to movement, and to how a story can be told. It’s definitely different from anything I’ve done so far, firstly because I’ve always worked either as a soloist, or as an interpreter for a choreographer’s vision. So co-creating with one other person is very new to me, and it’s very challenging because Larbi and I are different in many ways. But finding the things that link us and bring us together, like singing for example, and finding common ground in what we want to say and do, and how we want to say and do it, is quite fascinating. And what do you think he’s gained from you? Larbi is someone who observes deeply and learns quickly, and he’s definitely been interested in g
