Whats involved in the planning application process?
There are two main kinds of planning permit applications – “discretionary” applications, which have to be advertised and “permitted” applications, which are not advertised. Discretionary applications Council is required to publicly advertise a “discretionary” planning permit application for a 14 day period by: • Sending a written notice to all adjoining owners and occupiers of subject land; • Displaying a notice at the public boundary/boundaries of the subject land; • Placing an advertisement in the newspaper. (Council advertises “discretionary” applications on Saturdays and Wednesdays in The Advocate Newspaper); and • Having the application available for inspection at the Land Use Planning counter at the Administration Centre, 19 King Edward Street, Ulverstone.
