Simon Cowell is Not Going to Miss ‘American Idol,’ Does Heart Ryan Seacrest Simon Cowell joined his American Idol co-hosts on Larry King Live last night, and revealed that it will not be difficult to leave American Idol after this season. Not that this comes as much of a surprise. It’s no secret that Simon can’t wait to wrap Idol and focus on his popular show X Factor, which is coming to America. Simon is grimacing his way through the current season, and really couldn’t look any more bored if he tried. “No. No it’s not [hard],” Cowell said on the subject of walking away from Idol. “I’ve had nine years. Genuinely, I’ve had the best time of my life, and I’m very grateful and as you say, lucky. But you always know when it’s the right time to go. And I’ll look back and say we’ve had a great time.
