What’s in the baskets?
One the harvests begin in late June, all shareholders receive weekly baskets of freshly picked vegetables and herbs. Because each vegetable has its own harvest schedule, baskets change throughout the season. Other factors, like the amount of precipitation and sunshine feeding the plants each week, make it impossible for us to create a definitive schedule, letting you know what will be in each basket. When you join a CSA you are truly eating with the seasons! What we can tell you is that early spring baskets focus on leafy greens, radishes, snow peas, swiss chard and herbs, early summer baskets contain spring vegetables plus crunchy favourites like broccoli and cucumbers, carrots, spring onions and beets, late summer baskets contain much of the above plus the warm weather veggies like tomatoes, peppers, beans and squash, and fall baskets contain these plus winter squash, pumpkins, onions, parsnip and some of the colder crops seen in the early Spring.
