MODA LISBOA 2011 WINTER COLLECTIONS By Angela Gilltrap I have to admit being in Cascais sipping a refreshing glass of Portuguese wine as the Mediterranean sun beats overhead is one of the better parts of my job as a fashion writer. Unlike New York where you traipse around Manhattan until your well-heeled feet threaten to leave you for someone more caring, Moda Lisboa (Portugal’s answer to fashion week) is held in one venue: a fourteenth century fortress overlooking the ocean. Admittedly, when you think ‘European Fashion Week’, Portugal is one of the last destinations to come to mind however, a strong tradition in tailoring sees this historic location produce garments to rival the best.
