MONTI: This year it seems that 75% of my brides are outdoor brides. They don’t want long gowns or trains—they want something that they can wear in the garden. I would say only 10% of our brides are planning church ceremonies this year. COLLEEN: I still see a lot of religious weddings, and our brides are still looking for big dresses. However, the fabric of the dress is getting lighter and lighter. Light but still formal. Silk taffeta is a popular choice now. Our brides are choosing natural fabrics that breath. It is interesting how most contemporary brides still walk away with traditional gowns. LORNA: Yes, most brides still have a traditional idea of what a wedding dress should look like. JANICE: Bridal gowns are quite fashion forward, but even though most brides will come in and try on many of the contemporary looks they are still eventually settling on the traditional gown with a nice clean look.
