Whats Hot at the 2008 CEDIA Expo?
Thin LCD TVs – At last year’s Expo it seemed like thin bezels were the “in” thing. This year it’s the TV itself that’s thin. LG, Sharp, Sony, Hitachi, and the rest of the major LCD manufacturers showed either preproduction prototypes or new sets that are only an inch or so thick. Chief debuted mounts for the new TVs that are less than 1/2″ thick (.49″) to keep them appropriately close to the wall. Media servers that A) Can use off the shelf RAIDs for virtually unlimited storage. B) Go beyond traditional ripped and transferred content to encompass downloaded and streamed content such as that found on YouTube and other media sites, such as Amazon. All the content is then presented with a unified UI that can also include other non-media information such as stock quotes, traffic, and weather.
