Whats going to happen to the community centre when the new facility is built…and when will the old building be de-commissioned?

Our over 50 year old arena – the Orillia Community Centre – the centre for much of our minor hockey and figure skating activities, was built for another era and is woefully inadequate. It has now become too costly to renovate, repair, particularly its roof and wooden bleachers, and to make the building fully accessible to the physically challenged. Over the past 5-6 years, studies and assessments have recommended, due to significant capital conservation costs, the facility be de-commissioned.
