Has your husband continued to pay maintenance? He may have overpaid at one point and received part of it back, however this does not absolve him of his responsibilities towards his children. A very rough guide to the amount he should have paid through the CSA works on a sliding scale from 10% – 25% of net income depending on the number of children and the circumstances. The only reason to stop payments is if the children are proven to not be his biological offspring. Ex-partners can request the CSA review previous maintenance orders. The letter could be connected to this. Have you checked the CSA website at www.csa.gov.uk ? This will give you a good idea of what it is all about and how to proceed. Both my husband and myself have children from previous relationships. My husband has always paid maintenance and adhered to his responsibility. His ex has refused him contact with his daughter for the last 8 years but he still pays each month by standing order and increases the sum in line wi
