whats going on, rgb, cmyk values different in photoshop 6 vs. CS?

Images that were originally saved in photoshop 6 and than opened in photoshop cs, on the same computer, appear the same on the monitor but the values in the info pallette are very different especially the cmyk values. It seems to affect grayscale and duotone images more than color images. When I open the images back up in photoshop 6 the values are back to what they originally were.
